Children & Us
Your child’s dental health is important to us.
Childhood has been identified as the most important period in a person’s “dental life “.We have found that even when children have been to the dentist before, they often do not know what to expect when they come to see us. On the first and all subsequent visits we aim to provide children with full information about the visit, to help them overcome their anxieties. We firmly believe that this approach prepares the child to enter adulthood with a positive attitude towards dental health.
Very often patients and also parents, come to see us for the first time with a degree of anxiety. The children may be scared, often from previous dental experiences or from misinformation from parents, siblings or friends; they may be uncertain of what is to be done and how we will deal with their child’s fear of dentistry. We understand those fears and uncertainties, and work with an empathic approach to you and your child.
We explain every part of the procedure to the children before it happens, acknowledge anxieties and show the children that they do have the ability to deal with dental situations even though they are fearful. We believe that such experiences have a very positive effect on the child’s maturity .We invite parents of children to sit with us during the procedure, but we respectfully request that while the treatment is being carried out communication is just between ourselves and patient.
